Orbital Sciences Corporation was founded in 1982 with the goal of making space technology more affordable, accessible and useful to millions of people on Earth. Their Transportation Management System division is a leading U.S. supplier of satellite-based automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems.

The Business Problem
Orbital has been installing AVL systems at many transit authorities throughout the United States. These systems allow instant location of buses for security and traffic flow assistance. Training of the dispatch and operations personnel is problematic, due to shift times, diverse geographic locations, and other factors.

The TechProse Solution
TechProse developed e-learning modules directed to specific job functions to enable operators, dispatchers and managers to walk through conceptual overviews and simulations, learning their job functions on a "just-in-time" learning basis. The online instruction allowed each group to target the area of particular significance to their job, walk through the application on a guided basis, and then practice in a "sandbox" environment.
