Michigan Center for Public Health Preparedness Web-Based Training
The Client Profile Funded by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Michigan Center for Public Health Preparedness (MI-CPHP) is a branch of the University of Michigan School of Public Health. The MI-CPHP offers training products for the public health workforce and is part of a national network of centers that supports the preparedness efforts of state and local health departments.

The Business Problem The MI-CPHP wanted to turn an existing, day-long Instructor-led Training (ILT) course into web accessible e-learning via their learning portal, www.mipreparedness.org.
MI-CPHP challenged TechProse to maximize the benefits of an online course, which included ease of distribution to a geographically dispersed target audience, without losing the power of the instructor's engaging storytelling and presentation skills.
The TechProse Solution The TechProse e-learning team worked with university stakeholders to design a productive learning experience that reduced the total course duration from an eight-hour class to a three-hour online interactive event.
Video clips of the instructor presenting each topic with onscreen images and text were integrated, and frequent downloadable exercises provided learners with opportunities to work through scenarios and problems presented during the course.
This approach retained the instructor's personal charm and style and enhanced the quality of learning for participants.
Titled "Making Data, Policy and Politics Work for Public Health," this course culminates in a final quiz and evaluation that passed learner results back to MI-CPHP for reporting and tracking.
