Training Development
Case Study: Training and Documentation

The Client Profile
Southern Wine and Spirits of America, Inc. (Southern), is a nationally recognized wine and spirits distributor. Today, Southern operates in 27 states, including its original Florida market.

The Business Problem
Southern’s new Business-to-Business (B2B) application gave its customers the ability to place orders online, and the company needed to train its national sales force on the new application. Southern also needed a User Guide for customer reference, and a Conditions of Use document that outlined the company’s liability. Southern’s project managers were working on a tight deadline, and asked TechProse to help communicate the value and use of their new business tool.

The TechProse Solution
TechProse provided a team of technical writers and instructional designers for Southern.  After analyzing the client base, the team agreed that changing from a known paper-based system, to a wireless laptop represented a fundamental change for the team. For this reason, TechProse developed hands-on, Instructor-led Training (ILT) to introduce the sales team to the new processes and allow for plenty of supervised practice with a training “sandbox” database.  TechProse developed the materials and delivered training to the sales force in several sessions at various geographical locations.  The training and manuals rolled out on schedule and within budget. Training delivery took place over the course of a one year period in multiple states. TechProse instructors taught hundreds of Southern’s sales team members how to use the new software and hardware systems.
