Overtime Policy

Please Note: You must have written authorization from TechProse before working overtime.

In California overtime includes:

  1.  Any hours worked in a single day over 8 hours

AND

  1. Any hours worked in a single week over 40 hours

For many employees, if you work overtime, then TechProse by law is responsible to pay you overtime wages – one and a half times your hourly pay rate.

For example:

  1. Bob works 9 hours on Monday but only 38 hours for the week. TechProse is required to pay time and a half for the 9th hour Bob worked on Monday. This is unauthorized overtime!
  2. Sally works 42 hours for the week but never worked more than 8 hours in a day. TechProse is required to pay time and a half for the 41st and 42nd hour Sally worked on the weekend. This is unauthorized overtime!

The only exemption is for computer professionals engaged in the analysis, design and development of computer systems or programs. If you feel you are exempt from over-time premium pay please contact your Resource Manager.

Because of the potentially severe impact on client budgets, working unauthorized overtime hours may be cause for ending our engagement with you.

We thank you for your compliance with this California overtime law.
